Career Development/Work Incentive Specialist 

Human Solutions is an Employment Network through the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Ticket to Work Program. We serve clients nationally. We do this by providing our job placement services virtually, through regularly scheduled appointments over the phone, via email, quarterly trainings, or through resources available on our website. 

We are looking for a Certified Community Partner Work Incentives Counselor to provide career development and work incentive services to our Ticket to Work clients.

This is a part-time, contract position working 15-25 hours per week with the potential to increase. The position involves the delivery of career development and work incentive services, to be provided virtually at a secure location of your choice. This position requires either holding or undergoing the Federal suitability determination process and CPWIC certification from Virginia Commonwealth University. You will be required to adhere to specific contract requirements as determined by the Ticket to Work Program Agreement.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Review the established employment plan for/with each client. Identify the Ticketholder’s potential strengths and barriers. Provide the necessary services, and identify resources needed to achieve the short and long-term work goals.
  • Provide consistent and ongoing career development and job retention services.
  • Review and/or develop client resumes and cover letters and provide written recommendations and feedback for improvement.
  • Conduct interview training/preparation or other relevant training and provide oral/written feedback to clients.
  • Address the ongoing work incentive counseling needs of Ticketholders and promote positive work outcomes at all stages of the employment process.
  • Document all client contacts/attempted contacts in client file management database (emails, phone calls, video conferencing, text messaging, fax, etc.)
  • Participate in Human Solutions team meetings and trainings.
  • Contribute to program-related activities (i.e., articles for monthly newsletter, website updates/content, etc.), as requested.


As requested:

  • Respond to all new/potential client inquiries and questions related to the Ticket to Work program, and pre-screen clients for participation in Human Solutions Ticket to Work Program.
  • Create benefit summary reports for Ticketholders.

Requirements:
  • At least one (2) years’ experience providing services to people with disabilities preferably in a workforce development setting
  • Knowledge of disability-related issues and/or client needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling & grammar
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Access and MS Teams
  • Typing skills of at least 40wpm
  • Experience navigating & researching job openings via the Internet
  • Knowledge of Ticket to Work Program requirements is desired
  • Community Partner Work Incentive Coordinator (CPWIC) certification

Rate of Pay: Negotiable, based on experience
